A short story, by Oana Mosutiu

Josh was a little boy with big dreams. He had always been full of life, playing all day long and enjoying his childhood. Nobody could've thought that life was going to be so cruel for him.

He was only 4 when he was diagnosed with cancer. His parents were devastated: their little shining star was slowly fading. He was too young to understand what was going on but still knew that something wasn't right. As his mood was slowly decliving, his parents decided to bring a little spot of happiness in his life and brought him a dog. Toby, the new member of the family, and Josh became inseparable, and the little animal helped the kid to deal better with the illness until Josh lost the fight.

Sometimes we don't need big things in life in order to make it easier. Sometimes we only need to have a paw on our cheek and a wet snout to feel that not everything is as bad as it seems. Even if Josh didn't succeed in his fight against cancer, with the help that Toby provided to him, the struggle was less rough.

A narrative essay, by Oana Mosutiu

What I'm about to explain happened many years ago. I've always been afraid of heights. The fact that when I lived in Romania our flat was on the 6th floor never helped me to overcome that irrational fear. But that had to come to an end.

It was the first time my family and I were going to travel by plane. Until the, all the journeys from Romania to Spain that we had made were by bus, which meant lots of hours without sleeping comfortably, without going to the bathroom, etc. The reason was my fear of heights. But my mom decided that I was old enough to get over that. As soon as we got in the plane, I was terrified. I started to shake and I couldn't move my legs forward. But everything was OK, and I really enjoyed that flight eventually.

You should never be afraid of trying something that you're scared of. The way that things can end up may surprise you in a good way. Since my first flight, I've never been afraid of taking a plane again. Just think about this: guts over fear.

A Narrative Essay by Raquel Palau

Many times, when stress or sadness are inside ourselves, we feel like we should break out of the world, just to forget about that things that make us unhappy and don't allow us to smile. And in momnets when I don't feel like anything except escape of all, I imagine where I would like to be instead of the present moment.

Sometimes I wish I travelled around the world, visiting cities that would make me dream in real world. I could say Paris, Rome, London, Tokio, New York, San Francisco, Rio. I wouldn't mind exploring Paris or London again, as they are simply amazing. But if I had to choose one of the most important buildings of them, that would be for sure the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye. The views when you reach the top of them, from where you are able to see a piece of the city, ara speechless. Other places that I would like to be could be the Colisseum, the Tower of Tokio or Central Park. I have no doubt that I'll be really keen on them, as when you reach that thing you have been wishing for, you really enjoy the moment.

Even if I can't break out when I want and where I want, for certain I will visit that dreamful places which have got me lost lots of time in my thoughts, transporting me in those places which I have dreamed about.

A Narrative Essay by Raquel Palau

Three years ago, I went on a one-week trip in London with my English classmates. That's a city which I'd always wanted to visit, and if we add the fact that I had never been abroad before that, I must confess that I was really excited.

On the first day before leaving the main airport of Barcelona and the country for a week, I was terribly nervous. It was my first time in a plane! But when I realised, we were flying in the sky. It was pitch black outside, as the flight was delayed, but the views we got from a lit London at night were absolutely fantastic.

We visited the main place there, such as the Big Ben or the London Eye. They were more impressive than I thought: they were so different from seeing them on TV or in a photo that I was thrilled. We took photos of everything, including street artists. One thing I must tell is that we went on a trip by the time that the Prince of United Kingdom, William, and his partner, Kate Middleton, were near their wedding. In about two weeks over then, they tied the knot. Another thing to explain is that a group of classmates got lost one day while we were going to a Museum by train. Finally, the teachers found us, but they were really angry!

In conclusion, I must say that I wouldn't mind to repeat the trip, even though when I got home I was completely exhausted. But the emotions and the memories of that trip will be unforgettable, for sure!

A Narrative Essay by Laura Giribet

When I was six years old, my family and I went on holiday to Deltebre. I had never been on holiday before, so I felt very nervous about it.

We set off early in the morning as it took several hours to get there. I remember clearly we got lost twice and, because of that, we had lunch in a small hidden restaurant where they cooked fantastic food. After that, we continued our journey. The following day, we went to a beach nearby our hotel. It was the most quiet and relaxing place I've ever been to. I had a really good time there since I could swim, sunbathe, play with the sand and collect some shells.

Definitely, those were the most exciting days of my life. It was such a thrilling experience and I'm sure I'll never forget it.

Story by Edgar Benet

When I was 15 I travelled alone to England. I had been before to other foreign countries although I had always been with my parents.
In fact I was only on my own in the plane as a couple was waiting for me at the arrivals hall.
There were such nice people who have been good friends for ages. However, those days we had the chance to become closer, the more we talked the better we got on. We went sightseeing along the Manchester’s out skills, we went camping and we walked a lot around the quiet surroundings of the village they live in. Meanwhile the most fascinating experience was to have an English lifestyle.
I enjoyed a lot those days and either they did. And despite coming there back again, that first trip was the most exhilarating so far.

A narrative essay by Clàudia Cabau

An exciting trip

Last year I went to a beatiful trip with my parents. At first, we had decided to go to Scotland, but my mother changed her mind and finally we decided to go to Italy. It was in June, when I had finished my exams. The travel was really amazing for me, because I hadn't travelled in a plane before!

Italy can be confusing at first. The first day my family and I went to a hotel and, of course, everybody were speaking Italian. We didn't know the language, but my brother and I speak English and more or less we could understood everybody. The days passed and my family and I were terribly fascinated about all kind of things and places in that beatifut country. We visited Roma, Venecia, Mònaco, Pisa and a few cities more, and all of them were amazing. I belive that Venecia was the city which I like most because it is a really wonderful place.

But the weak passed and eventually the time to go home arrived. My family and I were extremely sad, but not at all, because we decided that we will return to Italy in a few years. In my opinion this trip was the best I have ever had, and Italy is one of the most beatiful places in the world.

A narrative essay by Marc Puig Miret

The best trip that I have ever done

Last summer I went on holiday with my family, this was the best trip that I have ever done. I went, with my family, to visit USA, I stayed there for three weeks.

The first week we stayed in New York, we visited the empire state, Manhatthan, the river Hudson, the statue of Liberty, and the biggest skyscrapers in the world! New York is fabolous, when you were in the city center you feel very small, this was the extrangiest feeling that I have ever felt in a city. After we visited New York we went to the west coast, in the pacific ocean, in Los Angeles! During the stay in Los Angeles we did a small trip in San Francisco,we visited the famous bridge, and the hill-climbed hills, the most caracteristic things in San Francisco. In Los Angeles we visited an important museum and the most important monuments, then, at night, we went to see a basketball match, in the Staples Center, Lakers against Celtics one of the best basketball matches that that you can see in the world.

Finally we went to Washington, we saw the Capitoly, the Parliament and the white house and other important monuments. In the end we flew in a plane to Barcelona.

If I were rich...

If one dat I become a very rich woman I wouldn't keep my money in my bank account. Anywhere I would take it and pay some sharity organizations which help people with poverty problems, which help children with illneses and which take care about animals or environment.

If I were rich I would travel to other countries like China or India. There I would work like a volunteer in some organizations and firstly to help children who live in very bad conditions. I would take care about them until they could live better and go to school. Secondly, I would like to fight with environmentalists and ecologists against people who destroy the planet and make it dirty dropping all of the rests of his industries on rivers or oceans. Finally I would help vets who take care about wild animals that are in risk or sick.

If I had money to burn I wouldn't save it for me because I wouldn't be happy. I think that rich people can became arrogant when they have a lot of money. If I took it to help the others I would be the happiest woman in the world.

AN EXCITING TRIP

Two years ago I went to Cadaqués with my parents, with my cousins and uncles. I had never been there before, so it was very exciting. The trip had been terribly long so I got sick.

When we arrived, we were too lost because the house which we were going to stay was so far from the town. As soon as we found it, we left there our things and went to visit that beautiful place. We enjoyed walking through the streets near the sea. We also had lunch in a cute small restaurant. It was such a short day, but we could see how it was that site. The following days we did many activities in Cadaqués or went to the nearest towns. Actually, the day that I most liked was when we visited Portlligat. There, it was one of Dalí's houses. We paid to entry to the mansion. Dalí's home was so special and we could understand why he was self-centered and strange. I will remember his house the rest of my life. I felt in love with his paintings.

I had a fantastic holiday with my family, so one day I hope that I will return to the Cap de Creus.

A Narrative Essay by Pol Malagón

Imagine you could go anywhere in the world, or do anything in the world. Where would you go, and what would you do?

If I could go anywhere and do anything in the world, I would go to Thailand, the most exotic land that I have ever imagined.

In Thailand there are a lot of extensive jungles, with a lot of animals and plants that I have never seen. I love animals and exploring new things, so if I went there, I would do a lot of excursions to the jungle in order to watch the wild life and have some adventures. Moreover, Thailand is a very cheap country where you can buy a lot of things for the same price you eat in an ordinary Spanish restaurant, so in this fantastic place I would eat exotic delicious cheap food. Besides, People who live in Thailand are extremely educated and sociable, you can stay for a few days living in their houses and they don't let you pay for a hotel room because they like to open their doors to friendly people.

In conclusion, Thailand is a fantastic country, with a lof of places to visit, activities to do and with very educated people to deal with. Therefore, if I had that proposal to go anywhere in the world, I would choose to go to Thailand for sure.

Imagine you went somewhere in the world and did everything you wanted. Explain your experience

Two years ago I went on a trip with my class. I have never had such a great experience and I will never forget it!

We went to the capital of England, London. It was a really huge city with a lot of people in the streets, a lot of traffic in the roads and with so many places to visit! We visited a lot of interesting museums, enormous green parks, fascinating shows and many more things. It was so great! One day while all my classmates were taking the subway my friend Joan and I were lost! We had been looking at some strange people and then we couldn't see the rest of the class. We were absolutely petrified!

Eventually, we phoned Ramon, our history teacher, and later on he came quickly to rescue us! We stayed in London for one great week and we returned our homes, to our sedentary lives.

Write a story about an exciting trip you have had or someone you know has had.

Last week I went to Saragossa with my mother. We went there for two reasons: shopping and visiting some interesting places. Exactly, I went to Puerto Venecia.

We were talking in the middle of the square when suddenly I saw a famous actress called Amaia Salamanca. I told to my mum who she was and I looked for a piece of paper and a pen and I started to run after her. First, there were a lot of people around her but they slowly dissapeared, then it was my turn. I greeted Amaia and I asked her for an autograph. She smiled at me while she was signing on a card and she gave it to me. She wrote: "dedicated to this very cute girl". I stayed beside her for a while and I was quite amazed to read so.

In the end, I went back to my mother and I explained her all what she had said to me. I've never had such a grateful experience. I'll never forget it.

Narrative Essay by Cristina Olmo

WHERE WOULD I GO?

If I could go anywhere in the world, I would like to leave it. If I could do anything in the world, I would look for my freedom. If I could, every time I watched the clear sky I would run away so fast until I could fly. And then I would ride the sky like an eagle. In fact, I wish I were an eagle. I would spread my wings and I would fly around the world, going further than ever before, searching for the truly freedom that I have never found. If only I were an eagle, I would have the possibility to find the happiness.

But I am still a human. And I cannot fly because I have no wings. I cannot be free because I am not a wild animal. And I cannot find out the happiness because I am not a free soul.

Anyway, I won't lose my hope. I will continue waking up every morning and I will continue watching the sun rising through the window. Because I won't stop dreaming about it. Because, maybe, one day, I will be able to make my dream come truth.

A Narrative Essay by Anna Ricart

Imagine you went somewhere in the world and did everything you wanted. Explain your experience.

Two years ago I went to New York  with my family, we were there for a week. The first thing I saw it was one of those typical yellow American school bus then we went to the hotel and we started visiting the city.

We visited Central Park and I was absolutely amazed with the story of how the park was built, before that we had walked through the 5th avenue and there I found something very interesting, in the middle of that crowded city in that noisy street was a cathedral. The following days we had visited the World Trade Center and the place where the Twin Tower were, after that we had spend some time in China Town and it was so surprising because it really was like being in China. One day we had lunch in a restaurant in Little Italy, the food tasted very well. Another day we had bought some cupcakes in the most famous bakery in New York, Magnolia Bakery.

New York is an incredible city and I really like to visit it again. Once I read that every city has got a special word and I think that New York’s word is opportunity.

Narrative Essay by Quim Guasch

Imagine you went somewhere in the world and did everything you wanted. Explain your experience.

It was a sunny day when I was having some beers in a café, with my friend.
We were near El Prat airport.
We were going to Florida.
It was hot.

We went inside the plane, and we sat down in those modern chairs.
She was next to me, and we were feeling nervous. I was nervous.
It was the first time I left Spain, and be nine hours flying with that Iberia's plane, made me feel a little scared. Although, we were having fun.

We arrived in the U.S.A.
We were in Florida: beach, sun, and very special moments were what we were going to find there.

Another beer, another smile.
That evening, one of the best Americans punk-rock group came in a pub. We loved their songs.
It was a fantastic concert.
After that, we went to sleep in a hotel.

I was happy. She was a very special person, and the moments that I spent with her, were so special too.

We stayed a short week in the city, visiting some monuments, going to the beach, having a drink, talking, kissing.

The week had become very short. I wanted to be there during all my life. With her.
Now, I don't know if what I wanted was to be there during all my life, or it was the fact to be somewhere with her during all my life.
I felt alive. But it was time to retorun home.

Sadness, maybe.

When the plane was landing, I said to her how happy I had been there.

Kissing her.

A story about an exciting trip I have had

Last summer I went to a trip I will never forget. Joan, Quim and I were staying in the hotel and we were watching TV. At 10 o'clock we left the hotel and we went to explore the mountain.

The mountain was absolutely fantastic. There were a lot of animals and plants and we could do a lot of photos. At first, we only wanted animals but then, we wanted plants too. Quim and I were taking photos to a plant when Joan found a very rare animal, we thought that we had to take a lot of photos to this animal and we did it. Next, we began to think that if we gave the photos to our friends the animal would be in danger. So, we decided to eliminate those photos. Finally, we made a very good lunch. We enjoyed a lot.

Five days later we returned to our house. In this trip I have felt very happy and I have ejoyed a lot. It was the most fascinating trip I have ever done. I want to go again to this mountain an take some photos again. The mountain has given me a really good experience.
